So I'm late again today. But with good reason. Chris and I got up semi-early and drove over to Jump Creek and did a little hike. More on that tomorrow. I spent the majority of the day inside yesterday, but then went outside later on in the day and evening, when it had sort of cooled off.
Riding mowers. I had the most fun messing around with Chris when she was mowing her yard by taking photos of her. Yes, the things you do for fun in Homedale, ID. On Sunday we watched the neighbor ride his tractor back and forth up the road. And apparently, a horse got out yesterday morning. I wish I would have got photos of all those things. Chris drove that lawnmower like a boss!
Cowboy. Chris has the most beautiful paint horse, Cowboy. When I was little, I loved horses. I even ran away when I was 5 to go get a pony. That didn't work out but I did get to do an impromptu photo shoot with Cowboy out in his pen. Today I asked Chris if he would do anything if I got on him bareback later. Then I suggested she try it first in case he decided to buck one of us off. I don't know if we will actually do it or not, but maybe. It seems a shame not to at least attempt to get on him since I'm here.
Lizard Butte. There is this cool land formation that looks like a lizard sunning itself on top of a rock, hence the name, in Marsing. We decided to go hike it just before sunset so we could get some good photos. It is a much steeper route up to the top than it looks, but we made it. We might have had to take several short breaks along the way. The views were well worth the climb and the sunset was spectacular. I told Chris I wanted to throw a can off the top. So, we grabbed two cherry Cokes from a mini-mart along the way and took them up there. And here I am chiding people for leaving trash around. And so I did it. I drank some Coke, poured some out for the ants and some out for the homies and chucked my can off the top. Every now and then it's kind of fun to be a little rebellious.
Today we have a few more things planned. And then tomorrow, it's off for Stanley, Idaho and the Sawtooth Mountains. Ghost towns, lakes and camping in a trailer. I am SUPER excited about this.
