At 90, my grandmother is far more energetic and lucid than most people half her age, including myself at times. She does have some health issues, one of which is not being able to see very well. This is awesome because she didn't know exactly that I was videoing her!
I don't have my mom anymore. What I wish I had from my mom was more snippets, more of the sound of her voice, recordings of her so I don't forget what she looked like or how she talked. I want to preserve memories of my Grandma, and this is the best way I know to do it.
We had such a good time. We went out for dinner the first night, and I just say with her for a few hours after my uncle left and we talked. This is when I recorded these. The next day, we went to a few thrift stores, and had lunch together before I headed home. She even called me later because I didn't call her and let her know I got home safe.
She takes care of everyone else at the care facility she lives at, like she's always done. Most are in wheelchairs, she doesn't even have to use a cane anymore. I'm so, so grateful to have her still. I have a fantasy that she'll live forever, but I know that's not true.
I hope you enjoy these videos as much as I had fun making them. She's amazing.
